According to USA Today Columnist Bob Nightengale, Diaz is dealing with loose bodies in his right elbow.

Nightengale adds that Diaz had not pitched in the last nine days and was “rocked” in his outing on Sunday against the Colorado Rockies. The three-time All-Star allowed three earned runs and didn’t record an out in his appearance. Eder, 27, had pitched well in his three appearances at Triple-A Oklahoma City, having a 3.38 ERA in three appearances. The Los Angeles Dodgers have an option to fill in at closer while Edwin Diaz is outDespite Diaz hitting the injured list, the Dodgers and manager Dave Roberts have an option available to fill in at closer. Left-hander Tanner Scott is one option, as he was the Miami Marlins closer in 2024 (18 saves) before he was traded to the San Diego Padres that season and was their closer (four saves).

The former All-Star struggled as the Dodgers' closer last season, tallying 23 saves in 33 opportunities. This season, Scott has primarily been Robert’s setup man with Diaz as the closer, having four holds in 8.2 innings. While Diaz recovers, Scott should provide a suitable stopgap.
