This past season, in particular, Johnson was very stingy in coverage, allowing a completion rate of just 42% and only 10.3 yards per catch.
He had good ball production as well, totaling four interceptions and five pass breakups. Johnson was named a second-team All-American.Johnson is the 38th-ranked prospect on the consensus big board and the fifth-ranked cornerback in this year's class. Many mock drafts have him being taken in the first round.Chris Johnson's athletic profileChris Johnson is a CB prospect in the 2026 draft class.
He scored a 9.82 RAS out of a possible 10.00. Johnson is consistent in mirroring the release from his pedal and rarely labors when transitioning with route breaks.
While many college corners lean on lax officiating to grab and maul, Johnson stays disciplined. He trusts his footwork and technique to remain tight to the route. He attacks the catch point with run-through force and is a tenacious wrap-up tackler who can quickly end plays.
Big receivers can steal some high-points, but not enough to cause concern. Johnson’s coverage versatility, toughness and athleticism should make him an early starter for a coverage-hungry team."What is the Jaguars' need at cornerback in the NFL draft?Adding Montaric Brown back into the mix greatly reduced the Jaguars' need to address the cornerback position. He and Travis Hunter will likely start on the outside, Jourdan Lewis will be at the nickel, while Jarrian Jones provides experienced depth. I would guess we still see James Gladstone add to this position in the draft, but no longer does doing so right away feel like a must. This article originally appeared on Jaguars Wire: 2026 NFL draft: Jaguars meet with All-American CB Chris Johnson
