Promotion: Dutch design brand Moooi has marked its 25th anniversary at Milan design week with a striking silver installation and product launches, including a playfully modular sofa by Yves Behar. Established in 2001 by designers Marcel Wanders and Casper Vissers, Moooi held its first Milan design week exhibition at Superstudio Più in the heart of the city's Tortona district. Twenty-five years later, the brand has returned to the iconic design week venue to mark its silver anniversary in style, with a presentation held in collaboration with Superstudio Design and led by current Moooi heads Wanders and Anders Westerholm.

Moooi's Milan design week programme kickstarted with a performance Moooi 25 and Promising is anchored by a large-scale installation at Superstudio Più, which is wrapped in "raw, rough and reflective" silver in a nod to the brand's quarter century. When crafting the installation, the brand was informed by French choreographer Yoann Bourgeois, who works at the intersection of dance and architecture. On the opening night of 19 April, the brand presented a choreographed presentation to mark the installation opening.

The event was lit up by illuminated trees "The presentation unfolds as a layered experience where material intelligence, gravity and movement take centre stage," said Moooi. "This choreographic gesture becomes a metaphor for the brand's narrative," it added. "A continuous search for suspension between stability and risk, past and future, tradition and experimentation, as objects appear poised between poetry and precision, softness and structure, imagination and engineering."

The brand presented a choreographed presentation to mark the installation opening Also on display was another installation of rotating, illuminated trees at the venue, including a luminous kinetic sculpture by Argentinian designer Andrés Reisinger, informed by pine trees. Also at Superstudio Più, Moooi offers an exclusive preview of its first "architectural lighting" collection called Powerline, developed with Slovenian manufacturer Intra Lighting and designed by Marcel Wanders. The performance was a celebration of Moooi's 25 years "Powerline signals a new chapter for Moooi by expanding its universe from expressive objects to complete lighting ecosystems that bridge architectural and decorative design," said the brand.

Alongside the presentation at Superstudio Più, Moooi marked its anniversary with a series of other projects presented at its Milan flagship store. Dutch design brand Moooi will mark its 25th anniversary at Milan design week Central to these projects is the unveiling of a bespoke 25-year tapestry by Dutch artist Mart Veldhuis, who created an intricately illustrated scene depicting Moooi's history in playfully graphic motifs. To mark the anniversary, Dutch trend-forecaster Li Edelkoort also worked with Moooi to create Tin Age, a matte metallic hue informed by tin.

"It is a colour rooted in modest, industrial origins and reimagined as a contemporary surface for today," explained the brand. Peaks is a modular sofa by Behar Swiss designer Behar also launched his Peaks sofa – modular seating designed for comfort and "human connection". Moooi also hosts previews of various products, including Urchina light by Dutch brand Studio Roderick Vos.

Named for its sea urchin-style shape, the lighting is characterised by a cluster of slender carbon rods. Urchina light by Dutch brand Studio Roderick Vos is named for its sea urchin-style shape British designer Paul Cocksedge's Push light is also on display, defined by softly illuminated paper. As well as new introductions, Moooi has spotlighted updated designs, such as two new sizes and wall- and ceiling-mounted variations of its recognisable, wire-basket Meshmatics chandelier.

Moooi will also present a ceiling-mounted variation of its recognisable, wire-basket Meshmatics chandelier The brand's Paper chandelier has been reintroduced in three sizes exclusively for Milan design week, while its Common Comrades stools have been reintroduced in a smoked bamboo material. The silver celebration is only the beginning."
