The DC Studios sequel reportedly found the perfect actor to portray a key family connection to one of Gotham’s most important political figures.

The Batman 2 casts Charles Dance, role reported Charles Dance is in talks to join DC Studios’ The Batman Part 2 alongside Robert Pattinson, Deadline reported. The Game of Thrones actor would reportedly play the role of Charles Dent, the father of Gotham DA Harvey Dent. Sebastian Stan is set to portray Harvey Dent, while Scarlett Johansson will take on the role of Dent’s wife.

DC Studios had no comment on Dance joining the film. Matt Reeves returns to direct the sequel and co-wrote the script with Mattson Tomlin. Robert Pattinson will reprise his role as the Caped Crusader in the upcoming follow-up.

DC Studios plans to begin filming late next month and will release the sequel in theaters on October 1, 2027. DC co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran are executive-producing the project. Warner Bros. first announced the sequel at CinemaCon in 2022 before it faced multiple delays.

Meanwhile, Dance is best known for portraying Tywin Lannister in HBO’s Game of Thrones. He most recently featured as Dr. Frankenstein’s father in Netflix’s Frankenstein.

Additionally, his credits include Alien 3, The Imitation Game, and the Peacock series Day of the Jackal. Reeves’ The Batman was the first major theatrical blockbuster for Warner Bros following the studio’s pandemic-era day-and-date release strategy on HBO Max. The 2022 film grossed $772 million at the worldwide box office, with $369.3 million coming domestically.

The original cast also featured Colin Farrell as the Penguin, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Andy Serkis as Alfred, and Barry Keoghan as an Arkham Asylum inmate. Farrell’s Penguin received a spinoff series on Max and is returning for the sequel. Originally reported by Anubhav Chaudhry on SuperHeroHype.
