The loss extended the Steelers’ streak of seasons without a playoff win to nine, and proved to be the end of the road for the longest tenured head coach in major American sports. There was speculation as to what would be next for Tomlin.

Would he take another head coach job right away? Would he take a year off and away from our screens all together? Or would he go into broadcasting – something that many have said he would be great at for years.

Well, that question has now been answered.Per Andrew Marchand of The Athletic, Tomlin is heading to NBC and joining the Football Night in America crew for the 2026 NFL season. This was expected to happen when Tomlin hired sports broadcasting agents Sandy Montag and Alex Flanagan in March. Now, he replaces Tony Dungy, his long-time friend and mentor, on the desk for NBC.Let us know what you think in the comments.
