We are only two days away from the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. And, as Washington Commanders general manager Adam Peters confirmed last week, we are also in the middle of lying season. So, two years ago, kind of knew that one pretty good," Peters said last week at his pre-draft press conference, referring to Washington's 2024 draft where it selected quarterback Jayden Daniels. "Last year, didn't know, you know, there's a lot of space in between one and 29.

But, this year, I mean, we talked about it, I think a little bit in Phoenix (NFL owners meetings), but it's hard to really understand or figure out where everything's going to go, where everybody's going to go, and man, you hear something new every day, right? Really everybody's, nobody's telling the truth."He's right. So, what do we make of the latest intel from NFL insiders?

Well, it depends on where you hear it from. When Adam Schefter and Peter Schrager of ESPN say something, it's generally great information. The same goes for NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah.

Jeremiah has been saying for days that he doesn't see the New York Giants taking Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles at No. 5 overall. On Monday, Schrager, in the latest edition of "The Schrager Hour," said he no longer believes the Tennessee Titans will select Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love. Schrager wasn't done dropping some interesting draft intel.

He discussed the Commanders and he believes that Washington's guy is Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate."The Commanders, my latest intel is that I heard Carnell Tate is their guy," Schrager said. "It could change. Carnell Tate could be sitting there at 7, then you'd have your reliable wide receiver, another Ohio State guy, you pair with Terry McLaurin, and you go to work."Then, Schrager's attention turns to Styles.

"If Sonny Styles is sitting, I believe Adam Peters would love to have his future Fred Warner," he said. "And that would be Sonny Styles. Adam Peters, of course, had Fred Warner in San Francisco and is trying to reshape and rebuild in that mold."Then, Schrager drops his wild card at No. 7 overall, if Washington can't find a trade partner to move back.

The Commanders have been mentioned often as a trade-back team, due to being without second and fourth-round picks. The wild card, per Schrager, is new offensive coordinator David Blough. The player is USC wide receiver Makai Lemon.

Lemon would be Blough's version of Lions star Amon-Ra St. Brown, who he played with in Detroit. Blough plans to run a similar offensive scheme to the one Ben Johnson ran with the Lions, which helped turn St.

Brown into a superstar. We've often mentioned Lemon being Blough's version of St. Brown in the lead-up to the draft. "Who is the Amon-Ra St.

Brown avatar in this draft? It's the Biletnikoff winner, Makai Lemon out of USC," Schrager said. "So, two names for the Commanders I would put in the back of your mind on this one.

Carnell Tate, if he's there, and don't be shocked if it's Makai Lemon. A David Blough pick.........but if Tate is on the board, I think that is a, hit that one right on the fairway. That is a great building block.

Awesome kid. Everything checks out."It's not a surprise that Washington likes Lemon. The Commanders have met with him multiple times.

However, Lemon is often mentioned as being selected in the 10-20 range. But, if Washington is on the clock and Love, Styles and Tate are all gone, Peters could be choosing between Miami EDGE Rueben Bain Jr., Ohio State safety Caleb Downs, LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane, and Lemon.
