The Coloradoan is again proud to present our weekly Athlete of the Week series, partnering with Blue Federal Credit Union to honor the best Fort Collins-area high school athletes in the 2025-26 school year.There are five nominees every week, and fans can vote every Monday through Thursday at coloradoan.com/sports.This is the 30th week of the 2025-26 sports season as we near a full-on sprint toward championship season in spring athletics.You can find the nominees and the ballot below. Voting is open this week until 11:59 a.m. on April 23, with the winner announced later that same day.Fans can nominate their favorite athletes (deadline: 11:59 p.m. every Sunday) and the Coloradoan sports staff will ultimately select the nominees each week.If you have nominations for a future Athlete of the Week, please send them via email to ChrisAbshire@coloradoan.com for consideration.Meet the Blue FCU Girls Athlete of the Week nomineesThe following Fort Collins-area girls athletes are nominated for their performances from April 13-18:June Fuchs, Fort Collins track & field: What a prolific meet for the Lambkins senior runner at Roosevelt's Randall Hess Roughrider Invitational.
Fuchs took the 800-meter title and also ran on Fort Collins' winning 4x400 and 4x800 relay squads.Tatum Gentry, Windsor soccer/track: It was a standout two-sport week for the Wizards junior. Gentry scored both of Windsor's goals in a 2-0 win over Rocky Mountain and then anchored winning 4x100 and 4x200 relay squads at the Randall Hess.Miriam Huffsmith, Liberty Common soccer: One of Northern Colorado's top scorers continues to get the Eagles on the board. Huffsmith scored all four Liberty Common goals in a win over Sterling and added three assists across three more games in a busy week.Peyton Landon, Timnath golf: The Cubs freshman is already winning tournaments and leading the Cubs in Class 3A this spring.
Landon won the individual crown in a Longs Peak League meet at Loveland's Olde Course, firing a three-over-par 75 to also pace Timnath to the team title.Addyson Smith, Fossil Ridge track and field:Smith keeps showing she's not just a short-track sprinter.
