The Washington Huskies couldn't overcome their arch-rivals on the road, falling 3-1 to Oregon on Sunday in a sweep for the Ducks.
After starting 15-0 in Big Ten play, the Washington Huskies failed their biggest conference test of the year to this point, suffering a 3-1 loss to the Oregon Ducks on Sunday to complete a sweep by their arch-rivals on the road.Coach Heather Tarr's team had no answer for the power of the Ducks, as right fielder Elon Butler blasted a pair of solo home runs and left fielder Amari Harper added a solo shot of her own to supply all of Oregon's scoring on the day. Washington's only run came by way of the long ball, too, when freshman shortstop Melody Acevedo hit a solo homer in the seventh inning to avoid the shutout. The Huskies had several chances to cut into the lead, but couldn't come through, leaving 6 runners on base.
Their best chance came with two runners on and nobody out in the sixth inning, but left fielder Ava Carroll hit a line drive right back at pitcher Elise Sokolsky, who snatched it out of the air and doubled off pinch runner Tia Durst at second base.ACEVEDO GOES YARD IN THE SEVENTH!📺 @BigTenNetworkpic.twitter.com/AaNnSl7rqU— Washington Softball (@UWSoftball) April 20, 2026Starter Sophia Ramuno took the loss for the Huskies and dropped to 9-3 on the year after letting up 2 runs (both of Butler's home runs) on 4 hits with 2 strikeouts before giving way to freshman Allie Thomsen, who surrendered a run on 2 hits with a strikeout.Lindsey Grein earned the win for the Ducks, her 23rd of the year, after working 5 scoreless innings, allowing 4 hits and 3 walks with 3 strikeouts along the way before giving way to Sokolsky, who closed things out for her third save of the year.
