The most terrifying movie of 2026 isn't Lee Cronin's The Mummy; it's a documentary with an 89% Rotten Tomatoes score. Find out more.
It's a bit of a coincidence that the scariest movie you'll watch in 2026 was released at around the same time as Lee Cronin's The Mummy. Much has been said about Cronin's reboot, which has been rated R by the Motion Picture Association for "strong disturbing violent content and gore." But a different kind of horror movie is drawing audiences at home mere days after its debut on the PVOD market.
The movie is co-produced by Daniel Kwan, who, along with Daniel Scheinert, directed the Oscar-winning Everything Everywhere All At Once a few years ago. The movie has been co-directed by Daniel Roher, who remains best known for making the Oscar-winning documentary Navalny, about the now-deceased Russian opposition leader.
