Dale senior and Tulsa men’s basketball signee Denton Forsythe was released from a local hospital Saturday after suffering an injury during a baseball game. An outfielder, Forsythe was injured during Dale’s 4-2 home win against Jones on Friday when a ball was hit in the gap and Forsythe collided with a teammate while diving for the catch. The teammate's leg struck Forsythe, leading to a Grade 3 laceration on his left kidney.
Forsythe’s dad, Josh, told The Oklahoman his son’s return this season is uncertain. “We thought last night he was going to stay in ICU a couple days, but his pain is way better and he’s not losing blood anymore,” Josh Forsythe said. “They actually just let him come home a bit ago.
He’ll go back for more scans and bloodwork in a few days to make sure the vessels weren’t damaged and he doesn’t still need surgery. Hopefully that all comes back good.” More: Oklahoma high school baseball: Top storylines, players to watch during 2026 seasonDenton Forsythe, the younger brother of OU sophomore basketball player Dayton Forsythe, was recently named to The Oklahoman’s Super 5 first team following a stellar senior basketball season.
