His ability to scramble after wayward drives left him behind trees, and his approach shots often left him with 50- to 60-foot putts on multiple occasions. His lag putting to tap-in range was especially impressive.“It’s a course that I love,” Fitzpatrick said Saturday after finishing the third round with a three-shot lead.Source: GolfHILTON HEAD ISLAND, SOUTH CAROLINA - APRIL 18: Scottie Scheffler of the United States plays his shot from the fourth tee during the third round of the RBC Heritage 2026 at Harbour Town Golf Links on April 18, 2026 in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. He lost strokes to the field on approach, and while he did shoot a bogey-free 4-under 67, he had to make several mid-length putts for par throughout the round, limiting his birdie opportunities.“I think I had only one bogey over the weekend here, so I did a lot of really good things. Would have liked to have seen a few more putts go in, but overall I executed the way I wanted to.

It was just challenging out there. The wind is swirling all around, and it was hard to make birdies late in the day.”Source: The MirrorScheffler has now finished runner-up in back-to-back high-profile tournaments, helping stabilize a recent dip in form over his previous three starts. He continues to struggle with slow starts in opening rounds, forcing him to play catch-up over the weekend.

Scheffler remains 200 points ahead of Rory McIlroy in the world rankings, while Fitzpatrick climbs four spots with the victory, rising to third in the world.“This was one of those weeks where anytime Fitzy needed something to happen, he made something happen.”Source: YardbarkerThis marks Fitzpatrick’s second win at the RBC Heritage, adding another tartan blazer to his collection. He will tee it up this week alongside his brother, Alex Fitzpatrick, at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans just outside New Orleans. This article was originally published on Forbes.com
