Barcelona youngster dealt ACL blowLa Liga giants Barcelona have this week been dealt a blow on the personnel front. This comes amid confirmation that youngster Patricio Pacífico is facing up to an extended incoming spell on the sidelines.Pacífico for his part only made the move to Catalunya’s capital this past January, in a loan deal from Uruguayan outfit Defensor Sporting. The 19-year-old had since gone on to link up with Barca Atlètic, the club’s reserve outfit. And after overcoming an early fitness problem, Pacífico had over recent weeks established himself as one of the first names on Juliano Belletti’s team sheet. So much so that the last few days had given rise to reports that the Uruguay youth international, who can line out at either left-back or centre-back, had done enough to convince the Camp Nou brass to make his signing permanent. As alluded to above, however, over the last 24 hours, as much has been thrown into serious doubt. As per a report from Diario Sport, after being forced off against Olot over the weekend:‘Pacífico has undergone medical tests at the Ciutat Esportiva and the results have determined that the footballer suffers a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament.’Conor Laird – GSFN
