The biggest hit of Hindi cinema – Dhurandhar The Revenge – ends on a novel note, showing the protagonist undergoing immense training while the song ‘Destiny – Mann Atkeya’ plays in the background. The song is sung by 21-year-old Vaibhav Gupta. He won Indian Idol 14 in 2024 and with this popular song, he has made his debut as a film singer.

The young chap also performed at the grand music launch of Dhurandhar The Revenge. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Vaibhav Gupta spoke about the response to ‘Destiny – Mann Atkeya’ and shared an interesting trivia. Vaibhav Gupta told Bollywood Hungama, “I sang almost 6 versions of the song.

The version that made it to the film was recorded at 6 in the morning on March 17, on the day of the album launch! There were 1 or 2 takes. In all, I took around 15 minutes to record the song.” Interestingly, Dhurandhar The Revenge had previews a day later, on March 18.

He also said, “I had no idea where exactly it would be placed in the film. However, I had a faint idea that it would arrive at a crucial juncture. And when I saw the film with the star cast, I realized it arrives at an important part of the film, where Jaskirat turns Hamza.” If the final version was recorded on March 17, when did he record the first version of the song?

Vaibhav Gupta replied, “I got a call at 2:00 am on February 9. That was the day I recorded the first version. Then, many more versions were made and finally, we cracked it on March 17.” He continued, “I also sang the scratch version of ‘Phir Se’, which ultimately was sung by Arijit Dada (Arijit Singh).

Lokesh Dhar sir (producer) and Shashwat Sachdev sir (music composer) really loved the scratch version that I sang. Of course, Arijit Dada took it to another level.” Does he remember his first meeting with Dhurandhar’s blockbuster director, Aditya Dhar? Vaibhav revealed, “When I met Shashwat sir for the first time, he played a tune on the piano and asked me to sing.

That’s when Aditya sir came. He heard my voice and asked, ‘Kaun gaa raha hai?’. Then Shashwat sir told me, ‘Vaibhav, bahut acchi awaaz hai.

Pakk chuki hai yeh awaaz’! He suggested to me how to give vocal rest. Aditya sir, meanwhile, said, ‘Tumhari awaz mein kuch baat hai.

You have no idea how successful you will be’! That motivated me a lot.” He continued, “A few singers had also dubbed ‘Mann Atkeya’, but Shashwat sir and Aditya sir chose to go with my voice. That means a lot.” Also Read: EXCLUSIVE: Vaibhav Gupta ECSTATIC with response to Dhurandhar The Revenge song ‘Mann Atkeya’; hails Ranveer Singh: “He followed me on Instagram and messaged, ‘May Maa Saraswati always shine on you…’”
