The star looked back on the career-defining franchise, revealing an unexpected opinion about one of the movies. Daniel Radcliffe names his favorite and least favorite Harry Potter movies In a recent interview for Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Daniel Radcliffe revealed his pick for the best Harry Potter series.
The actor chose his favorites from a bracket-style ranking of all the movies in the franchise, leading to one final winner. Horowitz began by pitting Sorcerer’s Stone against Chamber of Secrets. Radcliffe chose the latter, explaining, “I would take Chamber of Secrets out of those two because I love the Basilisk.” During the second round, when he was asked to choose between Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire, the actor admitted that he might have an unpopular opinion.
“That’s actually tough,” Radcliffe said. “Um, I know…everyone wants me to say Azkaban. I know that’s how everyone else feels, but I love the stuff I got to do on the fourth movie was awesome,” he added, before choosing Goblet of Fire.
The star then had to choose between Order of the Phoenix or Half-Blood Prince, for which he had a very confident answer. “Order of Phoenix, far and away. Half-Blood Prince is probably the bottom of the bracket for me,” he said.
However, Radcliffe clarified that the movie is great, but he put it at the bottom of the list for personal reasons. Next, Radcliffe chose Deathly Hallows Part 2, stating that it is his favorite of the bunch. When the showdown of the bracket-style selections came between Goblet of Fire and Deathly Hallows Part 2, the actor crowned the series finale as his favorite.
Radcliffe had previously shared that he was “embarrassed” to relive his childhood performances. But now, in Horowitz’s podcast, the actor revealed, “I would cringe watching the earlier films. Now I think the early films are sweet, and now I cringe watching myself when I was 18 or 19.” Most recently, Radcliffe featured in the sports mockumentary sitcom The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, which premiered on January 18, 2026.
