Houston Rockets star Kevin Durant, who is the focal point of the team’s offense, picked up an injury during practice ahead of the Los Angeles Lakers’ playoff series. Durant, who is now 37 years old but still great, is firing on all cylinders, averaging 26 points, 5.5. rebounds, and 4.8 assists during his first year with the Rockets. He played in 78 games, staying healthy for the first time in a while, but he has seemingly picked up a knee issue, according to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon.

The injury is reportedly not a “significant issue” for the superstar, but his status for Game 1 is officially listed as questionable. Luka Doncic, who is nursing a hamstring problem, and Austin Reaves, who has an oblique injury, both suffered them on April 2 against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Without Doncic or Reaves, the Lakers are left relying on LeBron James, now 41, as the team’s primary option and to put them on his back. While nowhere near his best, James has shown flashes of his former best and has handled an increased load well overall. If Durant does end up missing time or is somewhat compromised, the playing field evens out a bit for the Lakers, giving them better odds of pulling off an upset and allowing their stars time to heal up.
