John Rittman and Clemson softball had a phenomenal weekend sweeping the No. 18 ranked Virginia Cavaliers.
Clemson softball finally broke through on something that had slipped away a couple times earlier this season, finishing off its first ACC series sweep with a 6-1 win over No. 18 Virginia on Sunday. The Tigers built this one from the start. A hit-by-pitch and a well-placed bunt set up the opening run, and from there the lineup kept applying pressure. Taylor Pipkins delivered one of the biggest swings of the day with a two-run homer in the second, and Kiley Channell answered Virginia’s lone run with a blast of her own in the third.
She wasn’t done either, adding another RBI later to help stretch the lead.Sierra Maness took care of the rest. The right-hander went the distance, giving up just two hits and one run while working through a few tight spots. Virginia had chances but couldn’t come through when it mattered, finishing empty in key at-bats.Clemson’s offense stayed efficient throughout, consistently cashing in when opportunities showed up. That combination of timely hitting and steady pitching helped the Tigers control the entire weekend, not just Sunday’s game.Social media reacts to Dexter Lawrence being traded to the Bengals📸 Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports https://t.co/DVM0IHaqKtpic.twitter.com/5ftcnA28cC— Clemson Wire (@Clemson_Wire) April 19, 2026With another ranked win added to the résumé and a long-awaited conference sweep secured, Clemson now turns its focus to Tuesday’s home finale against Presbyterian.Contact us @Clemson_Wire on X, and like our page on Facebook for ongoing coverage of Clemson Tigers news and notes, plus opinions. This article originally appeared on Clemson Wire: Clemson softball sweeps ACC foe No.18 Virginia Cavaliers
