Every Spaniard to ever play for Manchester UnitedManchester United have had numerous talented Spaniards represent the club over the years.Under-21 striker Victor Musa is the latest to represent the club at youth level. The 19-year-old was born in Navarre and has represented the under-16s of both La furia española and England. He famously scored six goals in one match when United beat Leeds 13-1 in April 2025. The exciting talent will surely one day dream of representing the first team. Here is a comprehensive list of all the Spanish players to represent United’s first team.Spanish players to represent Man United1) David De GeaThe Madrid-born goalkeeper is the Spanish player with by far the most impact on the club’s history. No player born outside of the United Kingdom has represented United more, and he is seventh on the all-time list, with no goalkeeper ever making more appearances for the team.He won a Premier League title, FA Cup, a couple of League Cups and a Europa League during his 12-year stay at Old Trafford, where in his zenith, he was often referred to as one of the best keepers in the world.2) Juan MataThe Asturian joined United in the winter market of 2014 and would spend eight years at Old Trafford. His creative touch and quality lit up Old Trafford, and he was certainly one of the most popular players to pull on a red shirt in recent years.3) Ander HerreraThe former Athletic Club midfielder joined the club in the summer of 2014 and spent five years at Old Trafford. The Spaniard always gave 100% and was incredibly passionate and vocal about his love for the club.Possibly his greatest game was in 2017, when he scored and man-marked Eden Hazard out of the game in United’s 2-0 win over Antonio Conte’s Chelsea.4) Gerard PiquePique would go on to become one of the most famous defenders of his generation and achieve great things with both FC Barcelona and Spain. He joined United’s academy from Barcelona in 2004 and got his crucial first taste of senior football at Carrington.Pique played 13 times and scored two goals in United’s highly successful 2007-2008 season, when they won the Premier League and Champions League double.5) Sergio ReguilonThe left-back spent just four months on loan at Old Trafford after signing from Tottenham Hotspur in August 2023.He sometimes showed his attacking talent but did not stay long enough to really make much of an impact in Manchester.

He would spend the rest of that season on loan at Brentford and is now playing for Inter Miami in the United States.6) RicardoThe Madrid-born keeper was the first Spaniard to ever represent the club when he joined in 2002.He played four Champions League matches and only once in the Premier League against Blackburn Rovers. It was an entertaining match, though, as he conceded a penalty but then saved David Dunn’s effort in a 3-1 victory at Old Trafford.7) Victor ValdesValdes made his name at FC Barcelona, winning everything and playing 535 times for the club.He surprisingly joined United under Louis van Gaal in 2015 and made two appearances for the side against Arsenal and Hull City.Valdes fell out with the Dutch manager in the summer of 2015 and would never play for the club again, joining Standard Liege on loan and then Middlesbrough permanently.Featured image Molly Darlington via Getty Imagesonline pollsThe Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade.
