Iowa basketball fans react as the Hawkeyes add another transfer portal commitment in the form of 7-foot-3 center Andrew McKeever.
After Iowa basketball landed its second transfer portal commitment in as many days with the addition of former Saint Mary's center Andrew McKeever, Hawkeyes fans have made quite a buzz on social media by celebrating the decision of the towering 7-foot-3, 275-pound big manHailing from Livermore, Calif., McKeever brings the Hawkeyes a much-needed height presence, which Iowa lacked and became an area of weakness last season, especially against Big Ten foes such as eventual national champion Michigan, Michigan State, and Illinois. As an added bonus, McKeever will be arriving in Iowa City with two years of remaining NCAA eligibility after redshirting his true freshman season at Saint Mary's in the 2024-25 campaign. As a redshirt sophomore for the Gaels last season, McKeever averaged 8.2 points on 50% of his field goal attempts and shot 62.8% from the free throw line, to go along with 9.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists in around 23 minutes per contest across 10 starts in 33 games played.Given the revelry amongst Iowa fans, here are some of the best social media reactions as a result of McKeever's decision:Wow.Ben is planning on the Final Four.— Kevin Helmick (@mickhelmick4) April 18, 2026The 7'3 Saint Mary's product has found a home in Iowa City.
