Mandatory Credit: Jordan Prather-Imagn Images | Jordan Prather-Imagn Images Since Jasper Johnson first entered the transfer portal, we’ve seen several schools pick up steam with the former Kentucky Basketball guard.Alabama, Arkansas, and even Missouri were all thought to be the leader at one point or another, but now, it appears a non-SEC school has jumped into the lead.On Friday, Larry Vaught reported that he believed Oregon, Arkansas, and Missouri were the top schools for Johnson. In addition, 247 Sports recruiting ace Travis Branham logged a crystal ball prediction in favor of the Ducks to land Johnson with a confidence rating of six.Seeing Johnson leave the SEC should be considered good news if you’re a Kentucky fan.
While the former Woodford County product struggled as a true freshman, there’s more than enough talent for him to eventually become a quality college player. Seeing him do it in the SEC and potentially at the expense of Kentucky would be a bitter pill to swallow. This past season, Johnson averaged 4.9 points, 1.6 assists, and 1.1 rebounds in just 12 minutes per game across 35 game appearances. His regular season was a far cry from the guy we saw take it to Purdue in the exhibition season, racking up a team-best 15 points on 6/10 shooting (3/7 from deep) with three assists in just 19 minutes of play.If someone can find a way to consistently get that version of Jasper Johson, then whoever lands him will be getting a steal. For the moment, it looks like the Ducks are in position to gain his commitment. As of today looks like @BruhJasperJ could be headed to Arkansas, Missouri or Oregon.
Other schools are still calling and full day of conversations still underway. If I was guessing, decision could come tonight or tomorrow.@OregonMBB@RazorbackMBB@ryanlemond@cutler1300pic.twitter.com/4fNCHJKKCB— Vaughts' Views (@vaughtsviews) April 17, 2026Add us to your “Preferred Sources” on Google to get more Kentucky Wildcats news and views!
