Ever since Jaws made a generation of vacationers afraid to go in the water, moviegoers and Hollywood alike have loved movies where people have to try and survive against vicious, bloodthirsty beasts. Idris Elba fought a lion in Beastand Liam Neeson fought wolves in The Grey, but there’s always been something particularly special about creature thrillers where the people also have to contend with deep water — like Jaws, of course, but also Alexandre Aja’s excellent Crawl. Now there’s a new entry in that specific genre, and it’s setting Netflix on fire: Tommy Wirkola’s Thrash.
