One of the biggest headlines to come from this year's CinemaCon is the news that Jamie Dornan will be taking over the role of Aragorn in Andy Serkis' The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum. The future King of Gondor is a pivotal part in Peter Jackson's original Lord of the Rings trilogy, and in most fans' minds is inseparable from the man who originally played him: Viggo Mortensen. Recasting this particular role is not unprecedented in the history of the Middle-earth franchise. Indeed, it's how Mortensen got the part in the first place.
