Meghan Trainor really was SO confused when she got dragged into Ashley Tisdale‘s mom group drama — because she wasn’t even in the group anymore?! OMG! As Perezcious readers know, the High School Musical alum picked a fight with her former gal pals at the start of the year when she called them out for being “toxic” and excluding her in an essay for The Cut.

She didn’t name anyone directly, but it wasn’t hard to figure out she was talking about her friend group, including Meghan, Mandy Moore, Hilary Duff, and others. Among those speaking out was the Dear Future Husband artist and her hubby Daryl Sabara, who insisted they were “innocent,” not involved in any drama, and had no clue what was going on with the group. And now Meg’s back to double down on her version of the story. In a candid catch-up on life with Us Weekly on Wednesday, the new mom of three explained: “I was a bad mom friend.

I never went. They had so many events; they were awesome and always there for each other. There was a group chat, but eventually they started a group chat without me because I wasn’t there… and that was totally fine.” Oh, s**t!

She was pushed out just like Ashley?! Wow! Only difference is she was OK with it: “I didn’t feel bad. The last time I saw them was like a year ago, and I brought them to dinner and paid for it because I was like, ‘I’m so sorry that I’m just not present…’ And then that [story] popped up, and I was like, ‘What?!?’ I saw my face everywhere, and wait a second, I’m not even there… I saw a TikTok where they were like, ‘Well, everyone hates Meghan Trainor right now, so I bet she’s the mean one.’ And I was like, ‘Don’t worry, guys.'” Jeez!

Can you imagine facing the wrath of the internet for something you weren’t even a part of?! If only her reactions to the drama didn’t come off so humorous, maybe more folks would’ve believed her! @meghantrainor I swear i’m innocent ???? ♬ original sound – user While she seemed to navigate the situation with ease, it was tough for other women in the group, she noted: “But some moms in that group don’t want to be famous and never wanted attention. It was really hard for a lot of moms, and I felt so bad.

I felt bad for Ashley, that she was ever that sad. I think it was just a lot of miscommunication and confusion. I don’t really know what happened, but I wish them all the best.

I texted all of them.” Even Ash reached out to her — and it sounds like they have no bad blood: “Ashley texted me, ‘I’m sorry your name got dragged in.’ And I was like, ‘It’s all right, girl. The world’s a silly, crazy place, and they just want something to talk about.'” Wow! Sounds like she handled the controversy really well.

It must’ve been so frustrating seeing her name attached to the drama when she’s not in the group anymore! Reactions?! Sound OFF (below)! [Image via Meghan Trainor/Ashley Tisdale/Hilary Duff/Instagram]
