One NFL analyst wonders if Aaron Rodgers might change his mind about coming back if the Steelers draft Ty Simpson.
As the 2026 NFL Draft approaches, it seems less and less likely that the Pittsburgh Steelers will get an answer from quarterback Aaron Rodgers about whether or not he is going to sign with the team for 2026. This means the Steelers must head into next week's draft with a tremendous amount of uncertainty. This type of uncertainty along with the pressure on new head coach Mike McCarthy to produce right out of the gate could force the team to pick former Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson in the first round. A move that former NFL player and current NFL analyst Dominque Foxworth doesn't like the idea of.
He talked about it on ESPN's Get Up and he wondered if Rodgers might change his mind if he sees the Steelers commit to a quarterback in the first round."The reaction to, if they take Ty Simpson, considering that it is going to be in Pittsburgh, that might change my mind if I'm Aaron Rodgers," Foxworth said."The reaction to, if they take Ty Simpson, considering that it is going to be in Pittsburgh, that might change my mind if I'm Aaron Rodgers."@foxworth24 on Aaron Rodgers' future with the Pittsburgh Steelers 👀 pic.twitter.com/AQtvxsX5pI— Get Up (@GetUpESPN) April 17, 2026While we do expect the Steelers to draft a quarterback, we definitely don't think it will be Simpson. We would hope that Rodgers would be good with starting in 2026 no matter what other quarterbacks were on the roster and assume he wouldn't feel threatened by a rookie. This article originally appeared on Steelers Wire: Steelers might want to pass on Ty Simpson to keep Aaron Rodgers
