The Coloradoan is again proud to present our weekly Athlete of the Week series, partnering with Blue Federal Credit Union to honor the best Fort Collins-area high school athletes in the 2025-26 school year.There are five nominees every week, and fans can vote every Monday through Thursday at coloradoan.com/sports.This is the 30th week of the 2025-26 sports season as we near a full-on sprint toward championship season in spring athletics.You can find the nominees and the ballot below. Voting is open this week until 11:59 a.m. on April 23, with the winner announced later that same day.Fans can nominate their favorite athletes (deadline: 11:59 p.m. every Sunday) and the Coloradoan sports staff will ultimately select the nominees each week.If you have nominations for a future Athlete of the Week, please send them via email to ChrisAbshire@coloradoan.com for consideration.Meet the Blue FCU Boys Athlete of the Week nomineesThe following Fort Collins-area boys athletes are nominated for their performances April 13-18:Shane Gerdes, Fossil Ridge volleyball: The SaberCat hitter continued his outstanding senior season during Fossil's 2-0 week.

Gerdes combined for 17 kills, 20 digs, seven assists and three aces in a pair of sweeps over Pomona and Centaurus.Markus Gilmore, Windsor track & field: The Wizards speedster is zooming past his competition on the track, especially last week. Gilmore won the 110-meter hurdles, took second in the 100 dash and helped Windsor's 4x100 relay squad take third at Roosevelt's Randall Hess Roughrider Invitational.Bradley Mallette, Rocky Mountain baseball: What a two-way week for the Lobos senior. Mallette tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing three hits with eight strikeouts in a 2-0 win over Fossil Ridge.

He then went 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBIs in Rocky's 13-12 comeback win vs. Legacy.Dylan Rubenstein, Fort Collins baseball: Rubenstein stood out as pitcher and hitter in a 3-0 week for the Lambkins. Rubenstein shut out Loveland in a 10-0 win with a five-inning complete game and also went 4-for-8 with a homer (grand slam), six RBIs and five runs scored in the three wins.JaMaurius Taylor, Timnath track & field: The Cubs junior was prolific at the Randall Hess.
