Climate fiction is a relatively new term. The coining of the name is typically credited to news reporter and climate activist Dan Bloom, who first used it somewhere around 2007. Since then, the genre has only kept gaining more and more media traction. Sometimes shortened to cli-fi, this genre of speculative fiction explores stories of humanity dealing with the devastating effects of climate change.
