Seven-time champion Hunterdon Central baseball was awarded the top seed in the 16th Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Tournament.Two-time defending champions North Hunterdon is the No. 2 seed, followed by No. 3 High Point, No. 4 Vernon, No. 5 Sparta, No. 6 Wallkill Valley, No. 7 Phillipsburg, No. 8 Hackettstown and No. 9 Pope John.Hunterdon Central and North Hunterdon received double-round byes and both will host the quarterfinals on May 6. The other top seven seeds all received opening-round byes and will begin play in the second round.The semifinals will be played on May 9 at 11 a.m. at the higher seed.
The final is scheduled for 4 p.m. May 13 at Phillipsburg High School as part of a twin-bill with the softball championship game.Pope John is the only Sussex County school to win the baseball title since the tournament expanded in 2010. The Lions won in 2011, 2017 and 2019.Hunterdon Central has the most HWS titles with seven and won the inaugural championship in 2010.
