There were some things to like about his college tape at Arkansas, but Green really got the attention of the NFL at the combine. Green, at 6-foot-6 and 227 pounds, set quarterback records with a 43.5-inch vertical and in the broad jump at 11 feet, 2 inches.
Green also ran a 4.36 40-yard dash, the second-fastest time for a quarterback at the combine. Athleticism like that isn’t ignored by NFL teams, especially at quarterback, and the Cleveland Browns certainly took notice. They drafted him with the first pick of the sixth round at No. 182 overall on Saturday.

Because of Green’s shortcomings as a passer, there has been some speculation that he could eventually be a receiver in the NFL. That would take plenty of development too, but Green would immediately become one of the NFL’s most athletic skill-position players.
Green’s role will be a story through his career. The early gamble is on his athleticism translating and leading to Green making an impact in the NFL.
