2026 is already shaping up to be a strong year for movies, both in theaters and on streaming platforms. The biggest theatrical release so far is clearly Project Hail Mary, led by Ryan Gosling. However, it may not hold that title for long with The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (starring Anya Taylor-Joy) steadily gaining steam.
Streaming has also delivered some major hits, especially War Machine, the large-scale sci-fi action movie starring Alan Ritchson. The film dominated Netflix’s charts for weeks and became one of the platform’s biggest debuts of the year. It has since faded from the top of Netflix streaming charts thanks to new arrivals like Thrash and Sisu, which are both sitting comfortably in the top 10.
