Lennart Karl, Sven Ulreich, Tom Bischof and Serge Gnabry are already unavailable to suit up for the Bavarians and attacking midfielder Raphaël Guerreiro joins that list. The Portuguese international played around an hour of football in Die Rekordmeister‘s 4-3 comeback win over FSV Mainz before being surprisingly substituted out. The reason for this substitution is now fairly clear, though, as Bayern’s official website breaks the news:Raphaël Guerreiro suffered a minor muscle tear in his left hamstring during Saturday’s Bundesliga match against FSV Mainz ( 4-3 ).

This was confirmed by an examination conducted by FC Bayern ‘s medical department . The 32-year-old will therefore be sidelined for the time being. This injury further compounds Bayern’s minimal depth in the forward positions. Three players who can play in attacking midfielder are now out, forcing Jamal Musiala into a more prominent role.

Is Bayern’s #10 ready for this role despite his ongoing road to full fitness following his devastating ankle injury? We will see.As for Guerreiro, it is yet another muscular injury for a player that has unfortunately proven to be prone to them over the years. This injury will certainly see him miss both crucial Champions League semi final legs against Paris Saint Germain.

One has to hope that this is not the last time he will suit up for the Bavarians. After three effective years at Bayern, the former Borussia Dortmund player has been confirmed to leave at the end of the season. What a shame it would be for him to leave without playing in the final home game of the Bundesliga season.

Hopefully his recovery is swift.Bild reports, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, how long Bayern expect Guerreiro to remain unavailable:Raphaël Guerreiro will be sidelined for at least two weeks. He’s definitely out of both games against PSG.If you are looking for more Bayern Munich and German national team coverage, check out the latest episodes of Bavarian Podcast Works, which you can get on Acast, Spotify, Apple, or any leading podcast distributor… Join the conversation!Sign up for a user account and get:New, improved notifications system!Fewer adsCreate community postsComment on articles, community postsRec comments, community posts
