Rogers County owned the top of the field.Claremore’s Jack Williams and Tate Dunlap, along with Inola’s Caden Thompson and Travis Weast, swept the top-four individual spots Thursday at the Pryor Boys 36-Hole Invitational at Pryor Creek Golf Course, powering the Zebras to the team title and the Longhorns to a third-place finish.Claremore won the 11-team event with a 634, while Inola followed closely in third at 641. Chelsea placed 10th with a 786.Williams separated himself from the field with a spectacular second round, finishing at even-par 144 to claim medalist honors.His opening round [77] was steady but uneven.
He birdied Holes 1 and 7 but was offset by double bogeys on 6 and 9.On the back, he added a birdie on 13 but again ran into trouble with a double on 16, finishing with a 38 on the inward nine.Then came the second round.After a solid 38 on the front, highlighted by a birdie on No. 3, Williams caught absolute fire on the back nine. He birdied Holes 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18 in a stunning stretch, shooting a 7-under 29 on the inward nine to close with a 67 and run away with the tournament.Dunlap finished runner-up at 150.He fired a 74 in Round 1, highlighted by birdies on 7 and 9 to go out in 35 [minus-1].
He added another birdie on 13 but was slowed by a double bogey on 11 and bogeys on 16 and 17.His second round [76] featured flashes of brilliance.After a tough start, Dunlap birdied holes 5 and 6 to steady the front nine, then added back-to-back birdies on 14 and 15 on the back. Despite a double bogey on No. 7 and a couple of late bogeys, he closed strong with pars on the final three holes.Inola’s Caden Thompson and Travis Weast ensured Rogers County’s dominance at the top.Thompson placed third at 152. In Round 1, he carded a 75, highlighted by birdies on Holes 3, 6 and 18, offsetting a pair of double bogey on No. 7 and 10.In Round 2, he opened with a birdie on No. 1 and added another on No. 8 before closing strong with a birdie on 14, finishing with a 77.Weast followed closely in fourth at 154.
His opening round 74 was steady throughout, featuring a birdie on No. 7 and just three bogeys across the round.In Round 2, he remained consistent early before running into trouble on the back nine, including a double bogey on No. 10, finishing with an 80.The Zebras’ team title was secured by depth behind its top two, with Tristan Fuller [169], Cooper Mason [171] and Kavan Smith (183) rounding out the scoring. Fuller and Mason both finished in the top 20.Inola also showcased depth with Dior Seji at 14th [168], Aidan Schaefer [176] and Caleb Helling [176].Chelsea was led by Slayte Smith, who tied for 15th with a 169.
