The Chief of Defence Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, has commended Governor Dauda Lawal for what he described as “uncommon” support for military operations in Zamfara State. Oluyede gave the commendation during a visit to the Government House and the headquarters of Operation Fansan Yamma in Gusau. “I am here to commend His Excellency for the support for Operation Fansan Yamma, which is uncommon,” he said.

Responding, Governor Lawal said tackling banditry in Zamfara would significantly reduce insecurity nationwide.

“I don’t believe these criminals are stronger than our troops. We only have challenges to address,” he said. The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting the military, noting that security remains the top priority of his government. He also appreciated the Federal Government’s support but called for more assistance to end the menace of banditry.
