Cyndi Lauper didn’t mince words when a heckler interrupted her opening night in Las Vegas, firing back mid-show with an expletive-laced response that quickly drew cheers from the crowd. READ MORE: 100 BEST SONGS OF THE 1980S The pop legend launched ‘Cyndi Lauper: Live in Las Vegas’ at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Friday (April 24), and, while introducing ‘Hat Full of Stars’ track ‘Sally’s Pigeons’, the two-time Grammy winner was interrupted by a heckler. Immediately addressing the audience member, videos from the show see Lauper say: “I don’t know what the fuck you’re saying, hon.” “But please remember where you are, OK?
Because if you’re trying to shade me, bitch, I’m gonna come for you. I’m from Brooklyn, and if I wanna fucking talk, I will do a tap dance if I fucking want. Sorry, that of course is not part of my people skills.” Her fiery words were met with applause by the crowd, and she quickly continued on with the performance.
Her current residency marks a new chapter for her, following her 69-date ‘Girls Just Want to Have Fun’ farewell tour, which concluded last August. It comes after the ‘Girls Just Want To Have Fun’ hitmaker was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame last year, alongside the likes of The White Stripes, OutKast, Soundgarden, Joe Cocker and Bad Company. It was Chappell Roan who inducted Lauper, and paid tribute to her by wearing a replica of the skirt from the ‘True Colors’ music video. The ‘Pink Pony Club’ singer also spoke about the impact that ‘True Colors’ had on her growing up, saying she sang it as a child in her hometown in Missouri.
The induction to the Rock Hall came after Lauper played the final show of her farewell tour last summer. While those dates have drawn to a close, she will be playing a handful of live shows this year at her first ever Las Vegas residency.
