Photo Credit: Disney+ Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 teased that a Marvel hero said yes to the CIA, and a new report reveals who it was. In the latest episode, Jessica Jones dropped the bombshell while making it clear she turned the agency down. Jessica Jones said no to CIA, but Luke Cage reportedly didn’t Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones made a notable revelation in Daredevil: Born Again Episode 6 about her history with the CIA.
Jones confirmed that she rejected the agency’s recruitment efforts. However, she also revealed that some people she knows did not turn down the offer. According to Entertainment Weekly, Jones was referring to Luke Cage, who, like the comics, is believed to be the father of her daughter Danielle in the MCU.
Mike Colter’s Luke Cage was notably absent from the episode, reportedly off on a mission for Matthew Lillard’s Mr. Charles. His apparent cooperation with the CIA marks a significant shift from his street-level heroics.
In her EW interview, Ritter spoke about how motherhood transformed the character in meaningful ways. She explained that giving Jessica a child unlocks a new fierceness, saying it allows her “to be bigger and badder than ever as a result of having a child.” Ritter also noted that Jessica’s powers now glitch unpredictably after Danielle’s birth, dropping out at random. This supposed revelation raises several pressing questions about the current state of Jessica and Luke’s relationship.
Their dynamic appears strained if Luke chose a path that Jessica so forcefully rejected. The couple’s reported differing responses to the CIA suggest a fundamental disagreement that may have driven them apart. Luke Cage’s absence from the episode only deepens the mystery surrounding his current MCU status.
Colter is confirmed to appear in Season 3, with set photos showing him alongside Ritter and Finn Jones. When asked about those images, Ritter played coy, laughing and saying she doesn’t “know about them” and doesn’t think she “was there.” Future episodes of Daredevil: Born Again will likely need to address these dangling threads about Luke Cage directly. The show has an opportunity to explore why Cage reportedly accepted what Jones refused so adamantly. Originally reported by Anubhav Chaudhry on SuperHeroHype.
