The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) has launched a raw materials and products statistical information system. Speaking at the launch on Tuesday in Abuja, the council’s Director-General/CEO, Professor Nnanyelugo Martin Ike-Muonso, described the platform as the “best database in the country” for advancing the development of Nigeria’s raw materials sector. He said the council is strengthening a system that will provide real-time information on raw materials, including their quality, condition, characteristics, and distribution across different locations in the country.
He said the system will track how raw materials change over time and their level of usefulness, offering valuable insights for stakeholders. Professor Ike-Muonso said the platform was introduced to enable businesses, investors, policymakers, manufacturers, and researchers to access reliable statistical data for informed decision-making on the country’s raw materials. He added that the system provides comprehensive details on the locations of raw material deposits, their availability, quantities, quality, and trading dynamics, among other relevant information to support enterprises operating in the sector.
