The Federal Government has officially unveiled a new initiative to help Nigerians convert their vehicles to run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). Driven by the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas and Electric Vehicles (Pi-CNG & EV), in partnership with the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) and a commercial bank, the programme introduces flexible financing options, including installment payments spread over six months to ease the cost of conversion. This development was contained in a statement by CREDICORP, saying the initiative would make the shift to alternative energy both practical and accessible.

“Beyond affordability, this move is also strategic. Adopting CNG helps cushion the impact of global fuel disruptions, reduces emissions, and supports the country’s broader transition to cleaner energy solutions,” CREDICORP said. Daily Trust reports that through the flexible payment plan, Nigerians who are desirous of converting vehicles to CNG can take advantage of the initiative.
