It took some time to get the ball rolling, but James Gunn’s DCU is finally up and running thanks to the release of its first two live-action projects, Superman (starring David Corenswet) and Peacemaker Season 2 (starring John Cena). The universe officially launched at the end of 2024 with the premiere of the animated series Creature Commandos (starring Frank Grillo), but Gunn has proclaimed that Superman serves as the official launch, with Creature Commandos acting as more of an appetizer. The DCU is in line for a successful slate of projects this year as well, starting in June with the premiere of Supergirl (starring Milly Alcock), which is set to premiere on June 26. The HBO series Lanterns (starring Aaron Pierre and Kyle Chandler) will launch on an unannounced date in August.
