Harold Perkins Jr. is a New Orleans Saints fan no more. The New Orleans-born former LSU Tigers linebacker was picked by the archrival Atlanta Falcons in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, and he wasted no time acclimating to his new team."Yeah I grew up a Saints fan. Guess what though?"
Perkins told Falcons media on his introductory conference call, lowering his cap to flash the red and black logo. "I ain't a Saints fan no more!"Maybe it's an eye for an eye after the Saints drafted former Georgia Bulldogs defensive tackle Christen Miller and his entire Falcons-supporting family. And it's not like the Saints didn't have opportunities to pick Perkins themselves.
They just decided he wasn't a fit when they did go on the clock earlier in the draft. Perkins was productive up the river at LSU with 35.5 tackles for loss, 17 sacks, eight forced fumbles and a dozen passes defensed (plus five interceptions) in 43 games, but his slight frame and lack of a clear role in an NFL defense hurt his draft stock. Now he'll get two games a year to seek payback against his hometown team. This article originally appeared on Saints Wire: LSU's Harold Perkins Jr swears off Saints fandom after joining Falcons
