Akshay Kumar’s Bhooth Bangla has put up a respectable extended opening at the box office, and going by the trend over its first five days, the film appears to be heading towards a lifetime total in the Rs. 138 crore to Rs. 148 crore range at the India box office. At this stage, a finish of around Rs. 143 crores seems like the most balanced projection. The Priyadarshan-directed entertainer began with paid previews of Rs. 3.50 crores on Thursday, April 16, before collecting Rs. 14.40 crores on Friday, Rs. 21.75 crores on Saturday and Rs. 25.60 crores on Sunday.

After a strong weekend, the film saw the expected decline on Monday, when collections came down to Rs. 8.10 crores. However, it managed to show a degree of stability on Tuesday by collecting Rs. 9.30 crores, taking its total after five days to Rs. 82.65 crores. The first weekend clearly showed that the film had enough curiosity value and audience pull to post strong initial numbers.

The jump from Friday to Saturday was healthy, while Sunday also showed further growth, indicating that the film found traction among its target audience. At the same time, the Monday fall suggested that while the film has been accepted, it is still operating largely as a weekend-driven performer rather than a title displaying extraordinary weekday momentum. That said, Tuesday’s improvement is a positive development.

A rise on the first Tuesday often indicates that the audience response is reasonably stable. This makes Bhooth Bangla a film with decent sustaining power. Based on the current pattern, Bhooth Bangla is likely to close its first week in the vicinity of Rs. 96 crores to Rs. 98 crores.

From there, the eventual lifetime will depend heavily on how it performs in its second weekend. A realistic trade assessment at this point would place the film’s second-week contribution in the Rs. 28 crores to Rs. 36 crores range, followed by another Rs. 12 crores to Rs. 16 crores from the remainder of its run. On that basis, the likely finish settles in the Rs. 138 crore to Rs. 148 crore band. As things stand, Rs. 143 crores India nett appears to be the most reasonable lifetime estimate for Bhooth Bangla.
