Veteran filmmaker David Dhawan reflected on his long-standing collaboration with Salman Khan, offering insights into the actor’s professionalism and trust in a candid conversation with Bollywood Hungama. Speaking about their equation, Dhawan said, “We are fire together. We love to work,” underlining the strong creative synergy the two share on set.
He also revealed that Salman’s enthusiasm for collaboration remains intact even today. “Even recently I was shooting and he came there to meet me and said, ‘Let’s do something now,’” Dhawan shared. The filmmaker emphasized that one of Salman’s most admirable qualities is his complete faith in the director’s vision.
Despite being the leading star, Salman never interfered with how roles were shaped in Dhawan’s films. “He has never questioned me either,” Dhawan said, adding, “He has done films with me where he was the hero, but another actor may have had a better role, and he never questioned it.” Dhawan recalled that even after a film wrapped, Salman would maintain his trademark humour. “Even after the film finishes, he would jokingly ask, ‘You didn’t leave anything more for me?’” he said.
Summing up their enduring working relationship, Dhawan highlighted the actor’s accessibility and commitment. “Any time I can call him and shoot with him,” he stated, pointing to the level of trust and comfort they share. Through his remarks, Dhawan painted a picture of a star who prioritises collaboration over ego, reinforcing why his association with Salman Khan has remained one of the most successful and consistent partnerships in Hindi cinema.
