THE HAGUE, Netherlands – Nicholas Kaufman, the chief defense counsel of former president Rodrigo Duterte, said on Wednesday, April 22, that the defense was not surprised that the International Criminal Court decided to reject his client’s appeal against jurisdiction. He said the defense is focused on the trial, believing it is the only way the former president can return to the Philippines.
