ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s Colombo Stock Exchange closed flat on Wednesday, with the All Share Price Index rising a marginal 0.06 percent. The ASPI was up 14.33 points, at 22,639.81; while the S&P SL20 was down 0.14 percent, or 8.62 points, at 6,213.84. Central Finance Company (up 1.96 percent at Rs.259.75), Janashakthi Insurance Company (up 9.02 percent at Rs.4.40), and ACL Printers (up 1.89 percent at Rs.156.00) were top positive contributors to ASPI.
Hatton National Bank (down 0.67 percent at Rs.410.00), Hayleys (down 0.86 percent at Rs.231.00), John Keells Holdings (down 0.49 percent at Rs.20.20) were top negative contributors. Insurance industry led turnover with 1.77 billion rupees, followed by Food, Beverage & Tobacco with 1.32 billion rupees. Crossings were recorded in Ceylon Cold Stores (800,000 shares), Asian Alliance Insurance Company (300,162 shares), ACL Cables (294,068 shares), Mercantile Investments and Finance (1,000,000 shares) and Ceylon Tobacco Company (500,000 shares).
