Throw a stone and you’ll probably hit someone who has done – or, at least heard of – Hyrox in Singapore. After all, it is one of the biggest fitness trends, alongside recovery rituals like cold plunges in Singapore. Fitness enthusiasts and veteran racers put themselves through a gruelling race that involves running a whopping 8km and completing a mix of functional workouts, before being crowned a Hyrox finisher.

If you’re looking to join the Hyrox family or get more races under your belt, you’ve come to the right place. Scroll on for the upcoming Hyrox 2026 events in Singapore and Asia-Pacific in chronological order. What is Hyrox?

Hyrox is an indoor fitness competition that combines running and functional workout stations to test participants’ strength, endurance and overall fitness. Founded in Germany in 2017 by two-time Olympic field hockey champion Moritz Furste and veteran race event organiser Christian Toetzke, this fitness race has taken the world by storm. It’s now held in over 30 countries, including Thailand, South Korea, Japan and Singapore!

What is the Hyrox workout? Photography: Hyrox Singapore via Facebook The format is straightforward: participants run 1km, followed by 1 functional workout station, and repeat this eight times. The stations include machines like the Ski Erg and rower, sled push and pull, burpee broad jumps, farmer’s carry, sandbag lunges and wall balls.

From your arms and shoulders to glutes, back and core, every part of your body is thoroughly worked. Hyrox can be done in four different categories: Open, for solo racers; Pro, an elevated version with heavier weights for experienced racers; Doubles, for partner workouts; and Relay, for teams of four. Oh, and all Hyrox races are held in an indoor hall, where spectators can buy tickets and watch the entire event.

Why is Hyrox so popular? Photography: Hyrox Singapore via Facebook It’s not just gym rats and marathon runners who are signing up for Hyrox races. Touted as “a race for every body”, the race welcomes people across all age groups and fitness levels.

There’s no qualification to enter and no time limit imposed, which makes it an accessible competition that has quickly soared in popularity. The community aspect is another main draw. Hyrox gyms in Singapore offer dedicated programmes where members can train for the competition together.

Meanwhile, the Doubles and Relay categories encourage greater group participation. And not to forget about the electrifying atmosphere at Hyrox races. The adrenaline rush and energetic atmosphere are often cited as reasons why people return for more.

How hard is Hyrox for beginners? Photography: Hyrox Singapore via Facebook While a physically challenging race, Hyrox is still accessible to most fitness levels, beginners included. The race is broken down into 8km of running and eight functional workout stations that incorporate familiar everyday movements.

Think pulling, pushing, rowing and throwing. Yes, there’s intensity, but it is trainable over a recommended eight to 12 week period. Beginners are advised to prioritise running and find a comfortable pace you can keep up with – especially in between functional workout stations that’ll drain you.

Muscular endurance and compromised training (aka training after high intensity movements) are also encouraged to stimulate fatigue conditions. Tip: for your first Hyrox event, try a Doubles or Relay race, so you can share the load with a partner or more! Upcoming Hyrox events in Singapore & Asia-Pacific 1.
