Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported on Sunday that Iraq’s weekly oil shipments to the United States declined during the last week. The United States imported an average of 5.62 million barrels of crude oil per day from eight countries last week, according to the EIA. This is a 947,000-barrel-per-day increase compared to the previous week, when US oil imports reached approximately 4.67 million barrels per day, according to Shafaq News.

Iraq’s oil exports to the United States reached 109,000 barrels per day last week, representing a decline of 11,000 barrels per day compared to the previous week, when Iraq exported 120,000 barrels per day to the US. According to the EIA, Canada accounted for the majority of the United States’ crude oil imports over the previous week, with an average of 3.51 million barrels per day, followed by Saudi Arabia with 515,000 barrels per day, Venezuela with 499,000 barrels per day, and Mexico with 248,000 barrels per day. An average of 240,000 barrels were imported daily by the United States from Brazil, 138,000 barrels from Colombia, and 163,000 barrels from Nigeria. The United States consumes over 20 million barrels of oil each day, making it the world’s largest consumer.
