Mandatory Credit: James Snook-Imagn Images | James Snook-Imagn Images Could the Kentucky Basketball team soon add another player to the roster?Jerone Morton, the Kentucky native who played at Washington State last season, wrapped up his visit with Kentucky, and now we wait to see if he’ll be a Wildcat next season.Indications are that Morton had a good visit to Kentucky, but we’ll see if Kentucky can seal the deal.

The 6’4 guard averaged 7.8 points and 2.6 assists at Washington State last season. Most notably, though, he shot nearly 39 percent from three on 2.5 attempts per game.Morton played at George Rogers Clark High School and was named Most Valuable Player of the KHSAA Sweet 16. There’s no timeline yet for a decision for Morton, so this’ll be one to keep an eye on.

Meanwhile, several former Kentucky Football players are looking to make the leap to the NFL. Of course, four Wildcats from this past year’s team were drafted. Jalen Farmer and Seth McGowan were drafted to the Indianapolis Colts.

Jager Burton was drafted to the Packers, and Kendrick Law was drafted to the Lions. Former Kentucky receiver Barion Brown was also drafted by the New Orleans Saints.Several other former Cats signed deals as undrafted free agents. Josh Kattus signed a deal with the Cincinnati Bengals, and Ja’Mori Maclin signed a deal with the Buffalo Bills, who have multiple former Cats on the roster.

Former Kentucky punter Aidan Laros will be headed to Tampa Bay, and Shiyazh Pete signed a deal with the Dallas Cowboys. Another former Wildcat who transferred before this past season, Dane Key, signed a deal with the Denver Broncos. A couple of other former Wildcats haven’t signed deals yet, but likely will soon.

David Gusta received a lot of attention in the pre-draft process, so expect him to sign a deal soon. I also expect offensive lineman Joshua Braun and linebacker Alex Afari to sign UDFA deals as well.
