Mariska Hargitay thinks Law & Order: SVU will reach Season 30 As the longest-running primetime drama in American television history, Law & Order: SVU has already secured a two-season pickup that will carry it into the 2026–27 season. The show’s ability to maintain strong ratings while adapting to changing audience preferences has helped it remain a cornerstone of NBC’s lineup. Speaking at NBCUniversal’s Emmy Kick-Off luncheon, Mariska Hargitay expressed strong confidence in the show’s long-term future when asked whether it could reach Season 30.

“I do. How about that? I do,” Hargitay quipped to Deadline. “I love my show, I love my cast.

I love my showrunner, my writers, my producers. I feel like the luckiest, happiest actress. I love Dick Wolf, and I’m so challenged still.” Even after 27 seasons, the actor emphasized that the creative energy behind the show remains strong.

Reflecting on the running season, she said, “One of the things that’s been so exciting is, we just finished Season 27. I just watched the final episode of Season 27, and I thought it was the best of the season, and my best. What a way to finish a season after 27 years.” The Season 27 finale is going to air on May 14.

Hargitay also made it clear she has no immediate plans to step away. “So, I don’t want to go anywhere right now,” she said. The actress added that the production schedule has allowed her to balance other creative pursuits.

This includes a film project and an upcoming Broadway play. When asked if the show could go even further, she stated, “I don’t know, let’s just go to 30 first.”
