Perhaps the biggest indicator of the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic's box-office success is the recent streaming surge experienced by the 2007 action-thriller Shooter. What do the two movies have in common, you might ask? Michael is a $200 million tent pole about the biggest pop star in history and Shooter is a lean action movie that didn't even cross the $100 million mark in worldwide box-office revenue.

They happen to be directed by the same man, Antoine Fuqua. Normally, audiences revisit older movies if they're excited about the cast of a new hit. For instance, after the blockbuster success of Project Hail Mary, Ryan Gosling's sleek neo-noir hit Drive saw a sudden spike in viewership at home. For Shooter to surge because of Fuqua's involvement is certainly worth noting.
