Real Madrid defender Eder Militao suffered a hamstring injury during the match against Alavés, one which will require surgery and therefore force him to miss the upcoming FIFA World Cup, according to reports from AS and MARCA. Militao will miss around four months recovering from this injury and should be ready for the start of the 2026-27 season, per those same reports. The Brazilian defender decided not to undergo surgery when he suffered this same injury last winter. Unfortunately, the risk of him re-injuring that hamstring was significant and that’s what ended up happening during a meaningless game against Alavés.Militao won’t have the chance to play in his second World Cup after making his debut in that tournament in 2022.
