Netflix is home to many fantastic sci-fi thrillers. Some delve deep into hard sci-fi, like Lost in Space and Love, Death + Robots, while others stick to the lighter side of the science-fiction spectrum, i.e., Stranger Things and Dark. But, in 2023, Netflix released its adaptation of a true science fiction classic by one of the most lauded writers in the genre's history.

As well as creating the intense dark thriller, Monster, Naoki Urasawa also penned his own version of the sci-fi classic Astro Boy, putting a dark and twisted spin on Osamu Tezuka's manga/anime classic. Pluto and animation house Studio M2 adapted that series into an eight-episode thriller, and it's one of the best shows on streaming.
