Rebilas-Imagn Images The New York Jets have selected Texas Tech edge defender David Bailey with the #2 pick in the 2026 NFL draft.David Bailey is an athletic 22 year old 6’ 4”, 251pound linebacker with 4.50 speed. He was the consensus best pass rusher in college football last year and one of the best pass rushers coming out of college in recent memory.Last season Bailey racked up 52 tackles, 14.5 sacks and 20.5 tackles for loss. He was a first team All American and Big Twelve Defensive Lineman of the Year.David Bailey should slot in immediately on passing downs as the best pass rusher on the Jets.

He is still developing as a run defender and it remains to be seen whether he needs some time before he develops into an effective three down edge defenderThe Jets were long rumored to be choosing between David Bailey and Arvell Reese at #2. I would have been on board with either one. Bailey immediately improves the Jets pass rush.
