The Oklahoma Sooners picked up another SEC series win with their 3-1 victory over the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday. Miali Guachino was fantastic in a complete game performance, allowing one run on four hits and a walk. She struck out six and only allowed four runners in scoring position all day.
The Bulldogs were held to 1-for-4 with runners in scoring position and 1-for-9 with runners on base. Guachino also didn't allow an extra base hit in the win. After Georgia scored at the top of the third to cut Oklahoma's lead to one, Guachino retired the next 12 batters she faced and finished the game by retiring 14 of 15.
With the win, she moved to 13-1 on the season.At the plate, it was Kendall Wells again, hitting her 36th home run of the season, a two-run shot in the first to put the Sooners on the board first. She's now just one away from tying the NCAA single-season home run record. After Georgia cut into the Sooners' lead in the third, Ella Parker provided some insurance in the bottom of the inning to put OU up 3-1.
It was her 19th home run of the season. The Sooners are now 45-3 on the season and 17-3 in SEC play. They're two games up on Alabama in the win column.
The Crimson Tide will face Tennessee in a three-game series that will have implications on the SEC regular season title race. Oklahoma has a two-game lead on Texas A&M ahead of the final series of the season next weekend in College Station.
